Sean Harley Chambers

Profile

Twenty years reading the small print

Business journalist turned casino writer. I check the terms, the payments and the numbers before anyone signs up.

I started in newsrooms. After a history degree at Leeds and a postgraduate diploma in journalism at City, University of London, I spent years on the business pages of a regional newspaper and ended up editing the section.

Alongside the day job I wrote freelance for financial technology publications. That meant learning how payments, wallets and transfers really move money, and where they slow down.

For the last six years I have been a Content Writer at Casino.org. I review online casinos and write about blackjack and table games, and I bring the habits of a business desk with me: read the accounts, test the claims, quote the terms.

Weekend

Off the business pages

I play blackjack for fun, and never at a casino I write about. Knowing the game from the player's side of the table keeps the reviews honest about what the rules really cost.

The rest of my spare time goes on old bicycles. I restore vintage frames, wheels and bearings one part at a time, which turns out to be very good training for reading a set of bonus terms: slowly, and in order.
